Is anyone controlling this whole cloning thing? What's stopping some mad scientist from practicing cloning on humans?

decreased diversity of immune genes. Higher diversity leads to increased chances that some individual(s) will be resistant to a hypothetical killer pathogen.Originally posted by: destrekor

all cows are potentially vulnerable to the same diseases....
is there something I am missing? is there a magical DNA link between cloned creatures that I am unaware of?
one clone gets sick, and they all immediately fall ill to the same disease at the same exact time?
sounds like a creepy, sci-fi dystopia novel.![]()

All cows are already very closely related. Simply cloning them isn't going to put them into any worse of a situation.

How closely related is "very?" More to the point, how diverse are their HLA alleles? got a cite? Cloning will make their HLA alleles identical.
I've no objection to cloning cows, btw.
