I lost 5 pounds since the last time I weighed myself...I don't live in america though. But I don't think that would really change anything, i don't eat out very often, maybe once or twice a month.

It's actually fairly difficult to gain 8 lbs in one month.

Secondly Korean food kills you through the salt, not through the calories. Heart Disease rates are high in korea from all the damn salt.

That, and genetics.

How bad is the food in S. Korea? Every time I visit Taiwan I gain weight. I think my record is 7 pounds in 10 days.

Sodium doesn't cause heart disease. But it certainly can complicate and advance underlying heart health issues.

LOL @ OP. I am in the same boat. When I was in Asia, I lose weight but gain weight when I am back to the States. I think the portions are much larger here (50% or more) plus soda have more sugar/calories and free refills FTW (you have to pay full price for soda if you want another one in Asia - from my own experience/observation).

On a side note, I still can NOT eat kimchee. Just can't.

Just do not consume any processed food. When I first moved to the US I gained more than 20 pounds in a few months eating way less than I used to.

Stopped consuming processed food, and went to a 99% organic diet. Problem solved. In a few months I lost the weight I had gained and actually went on to be the lightest I had ever been, with fat percentage in the single digits.

Unless you have some weird diet habit, it's quite easy. I do not consume anything that comes out of a box, do not consume anything with corn syrup, no sodas, no sugar.

But yeah, shopping carelessly for groceries in the US can lead to disastrous results quite quickly.

I lost 10lbs in Thailand in 2.5 weeks, and I didn't eat healthy at all. It's amazing what all that walking plus nonstop fire shits will do for you.

Just to clarify, you ate less in terms of total food items. They just happened to be more calorically dense and you still ate more calories than you had before.

How can you eat that ?

That is correct. I had never ingested corn syrup in my life, and was not really aware of the monstrous caloric content that small sized packaged foods could have.

However, an additional effect was liquids retention by virtue of the kind of additive found in packaged food. A lot of the weight loss happened very fast when I lost the "inflate-ness" I was experiencing due to water retention.

The American diet means freedom. Freedom with respect to diet requires moderation.

Truer words have never been spoken.

She gets points for her chicken. She slow roasted it in the crock pot for like 10 hours and then made pasta and alfredo sauce with it.

When chicken is done right, it's super tasty.

But, I still crave steak. Steak, in it's simplicity, in it's glory, in its flavor, is one of the brightest spots in the tapestry of food.
