What action can I take against telemarketing groups that constantly call even though multiple times I have asked to be removed from their calling list?

The first time I asked to be removed was Thursday night at ~6:50. Then again at ~5:10 Friday night and yet again today at 3:55.

It is the same number calling everytime and they just use a different recording to sell dish network. After listening to the the recording you have to press 1 to talk to a representative.

I know I can register for the Do Not Call list and have done so, but it takes a little time to become effective.

So what can I do?

I screen my calls. If it's important, they'll leave a message.

There was a thread around here that comes to mind.....it was a woman screaming at a telemarketer about how they are destroying her life, and how they apparently killed some other people from stress. Something like that. Anyone have a link handy?
You could just do that to them. They might leave you alone then.

DNC lists don't work. I have registered all my numbers and they still come.

The problem is no one identifies themselves. I have even been willing to 'buy' but first need to know what the company really is.

no dice.

I get weekly calls from India for sattelite tv. I tell the telemarketer to hold for someone who loves to talk on the phone and then hand the receiver to my 3 year old.

You have to say "Place me on your do-not-call list" not "remove me".

Keep a log.

If they call once you've requested to be put on the DNC list, you can sue for each call. Google the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

Oh, and recorded calls for anyone other than a non-profit is illegal. Call, threaten to sue, they'll stop bugging you.
