I put my home and cell number on the DNC list 8 months ago but they still keep on calling. Any idea as to what I can do? The calls are a 50-50 split between automated messages and live persons and I am getting sick of saying "please take me off your calling list". Any help or advice is appreciated :)

Find out the name of the company.

If you're on the DNC list and they do wind up calling you, they can get fined pretty heavily from what I hear.

They're required by law to give you their name and the company they work for. Take this information down. Ask them not to ever call you again and threaten to go to the FCC if they do. It's a $10,000 fine for each violation after you ask them not to call again.

I never bother to take their info and its kind of hard to tell that to an automated message. I hope I am not expected to call them and tell them.

A little effort and footwork on your part might be worth it down the line.

If anyone know how I can make their idiots pay through their nose, please share. I am sick of their calls.

The automated message should leave a company name and callback number. Call back and explain that you'll report them to the FCC if they call again. Or, just take that info to the FCC.

Politicians passed the law. Politicians gave themselves excemptions. Thus if the call is (a) about charity, (b) about politics, or (c) about a company that you have done buisness with then you have no way to stop them. Well, you can disconnect your phone line.

My response nowadays is to interrupt them and try to sell them penis enlargement pills. I have a little script by the phone and emote like a she-robot!

I don't remember which station it was here in Minneapolis, KARE, WCCO... I don't watch the news. But they recently did a story about an unemployed high school dropout who made $100K last year by hardballing telemarketers. He was on the DNC, and when he'd receive calls he'd settle with them to not report them. Considering the fine, I think he was easily making $1K per call.

Obviously this revenue stream won't last forever, but for now it sounds like the shiznit.

Its worth a shot ;)

EDIT - I called them and told them that I am filing a complaint. I didnt want their money because filing a complaint was more important. I hope the man does something with it.
