This guys lives in La Jolla and hsi house is right on the coast line. A couple million easy. His basement is converted into a computer room with a T1 going to it. He wants us to make a "workstation" using a Intel STL2 board and all this good stuff. We go over there and check out his basement. Supposededly this "Rich computer wiz" has red marks all over his Server Event Viewer.

I have a friend who runs a software company from his house. He has 3megabyte SDSL for about $1500/month. Better than any T1 line I've ever seen...he's one of those people that has a &quot;relationship&quot; with the phone company because he drops a few thousand dollars to them per month, easy...so they give him the best service I've ever seen.

Why a T1? Sure it's &quot;fast&quot;, but it's not that fast. Dual T3s would be much better. There are plenty of Cable connections that are quite a bit faster than T1...

Cable might be faster. It might be slower. DSL and cable are too unpredictable. With a T1 you're guaranteed the bandwidth you're paying for 24/7. They're also monitored constantly, so interruption in service is rare. You get what you pay for, plain and simple.

fortunatly mine is always faster then T1 all the time. it's 3mb/s down most of time and 27mb/s when its *cough* slow *cough* but then again they capped my upload to 128kb/s!!! errrg but i download things fast at least. thank god there are only old ppl living near me i think im the only user in my town, there are lot of cable TV watchin pplz but no cable modem.

Well, my cable line always maxxes out T1 lines, but T1 is just better. Guaranteed and all. But still, how many people have T1 going to their house?
