I lost my phone (3390) almost a year ago, fell out of my pocket on a windy day. I called then Voicestream immediately and they deactivated the SIM card so calls could not be made nor recieved. I then bought a new phone from BestBuy (I was extremely lucky, the phone was onsale for less than $50) and called Voicestream to put the new SIM on the account.

I'm sure AT&T (I'm assuming or whatever carrier you use) can do the same.

you can call your provider and report the phone as stolen. The ESN is unable to be activated via the provider unless you call to report it un-stolen.

It's an 8265, so it's digital, and therefore locked to a specific providor, right? Can't you call them up, report it lost/stolen, and have them keep it flagged that way in their system so if someone tries to reconnect with it, they can get it back for you?

cell phone theft is only to annoy people... AFAIK you can't use a stolen phone... some bastards stole the face plate off a friend's clarion... just to be assholes... :|

The problem is if most people see something of value, they immediately say "Wow, look what I found." instead of "Oh man, look what someone lost."
