Damn sites that misuse the ALT tag

Arrrghh... getting tired of sites that think the ALT tag is for making those little popup tooltips! ALT tags are for the vision-impaired! This forum is no exception. As I read a thread and mouse over those images, which have no text explanation as to what they are, BTW, no tooltips come up (I'm using a real browser that's fully W3C compliant). It's the TITLE tag that people need to use to get tooltips.. not ALT.

Just a general rant. I'm off my soapbox now..

Alt tags don't give tooltips, javascript does.

uhh, no. javascript doesn't. in IE, ALT and TITLE tags popup tooltips, which is incorrect. only TITLE tags are supposed to do that.

Eh, alt doesn't pop up in gecko.

That's right.. cuz Gecko/Mozilla is a REAL browser.
