Hello all my my computer friends...
I need some help...

I posted this post a while ago here and I think I must have either stummed some people so people don't like my name or something.... either way, it never got fixed...

anyway, I ditched my duel boot... deleted all my partitions... moved to 3 partitions instead of 5 and got rid of win98 altogether...

I fdisked my drive (and my mbr to make sure)... 3 partitons... 6, 10, 13.9 gb each.
Win 2k on the C. FAT32...
Installed sp1....
BSOD!!!! right on the restart... this about the tenth time I did this!!

Any reason other than I have a $hitty harddrive??
HELP PLEASE!!!

Hello,

I get the same error when I install Service pack 1 on a MAXTOR 30 GIG hdd.
It did it on the same drive in another system too.

I have no idea why it does this.. but..
I'd really like some help too, because I love win2k..

I thought that SP2 was supposed to come out in April or maybe March. Which copy of SP1 are you using? There is a Network version that has everything and then the smaller one that just has what MS thinks is your system config. Maybe its getting something wrong when it decides what to download.

I have the same problem lost win2k after installing service pack1-
I too have the 30gig maxtor drive, and the ata100 card, which doesnt work with the drive
connected in win2k or w98................

maxtor sent me a new driver for the ata100 card yesterday, will try it tonight
(fingers crossed, deathly afraid to lose win2k again).

SP1 corrupted my Win2k Pro multiple times, so I just said fvck it and switched back to Win98SE. Turns out that my mainboard (a Shuttle HOT-597) was not supported by Win2k . . .

This might be a little off topic, but is there anyway that MS would send a copy of Win2000 SP1 if I show proof that I own the Origianl Win2000? This way, I wouldn't have to deal with installing the service pack after installing Win2000.
