Just spoke with my dad. He's worried about a few things. The US economy (I've been out of a job for 6 months). Safety concerns. And some other things.
I mentioned that in most situations the economy usually improves during times of war. But his arguement is that we don't know who we are at war with and before it benefited the economy because there was production. We already have our weapons produced therefore we would not benefit that way. Plus with world markets in disarray (Tokyo down 6%+, taiwan didn't open, EU down ~10%) this is going to throw alot of problems in the short and possibly long term.
Plus they're afraid of the safety issues now. I live in OC but frequently go to LA to consult/play/etc. So they are asking me if I want to just go back to Taiwan for a little while. I told them that I didn't/wouldn't get on a plane that quickly because if the thinking of these terrorists is the same, a plane headed for Taiwan non-stop would hold alot more fuel than those that were coming from the east coast.
Geez, what to do now. I don't have a job. I have outrageuos rent. I could just sell off everything and head out, but is that being cowardly? I wouldn't mind going back cuz I can work there and don't have to pay rent. But I would be leaving behind a GF, friends, etc. Don't get me wrong I love the US but just to relieve them of any additional worries, should I go back? Damn damn damn......
