I downloaded ie5setup.exe, but the only option this gives me is a 6 meg install, which is only the IE 5.5 browser (ACK, 5.5 sucks), without OE 5.5, which is what I'm trying to get.
When you download the setup file and run it, you should have the option of doing a custom install. Select that, then select the components you want to install. I just tried it and I was able to select JUST Outlook Express. (I don't recall being able to select OE by itself before.)
Very likely unless you have IE5.5, you can't install OE5.5. The browser and the email/news client are heavily tied together, so they pretty much have to be the same version. I think I'm now able to select just OE because I already have the newest version of IE.
I know about that already, but in this particular case, I can't do that. For some reason, there is only one option, which is 6 megabytes, to download IE 5.5 for Win2K only, just the browser. I don't want this! :|
