Damn Klez spoofing...

I'm getting all kinds of emails from my users forwarding me Klez message that were sent to them with spoofing enabled that makes it look like they sent out an email. They just don't seem to understand that is how Klez spreads....

Blah email viruses are so annoying. Well for that matter, all viruses are annoying!

that is why email attachments are evil

if people learned to send links to files on ftp servers, then this type of problem would be reduced

if i owned a company, the company email would not allow attachments of any kind/size

Open ftp servers are as bad as open-relay mailservers, warez people gobble them up like candy.

Closed ftp servers solve this but add extra e-mail round-trips because you have to keep sending people the password before they can do anything. This makes customer support time go way up and can really bog down other business communications.

But yes, attachments are (a necessary) evil, especially for customers using unsecure garbage like Outlook / OE. Sweet that they've always shipped with scripting enabled so viral code can run right from the preview window as you're clicking to delete an e-mail.
