I scraped some change out and bought myself a Jumbo Jack With Cheese..

and I am freaking hungry 5-10 minutes later..

arrgh!!!

I started dieting, and I lost lots of weight, now to reduce loosing weight even more i have to increase intake, the problem is that I have also increased my physical activity, so it means I am burning lots of calories and I am still loosing weight..

this sucks!

One good thing is that I am down from 180 to about 135-140.. :) That in about 3 to 4 months.. the biggest improvement was in the last 2 months since it became nice and warm.

Eat a sleeve of Zesta saltines and a chunk of sharp cheddar cheese.... that should curb your appetite.

And as Elfenix suggested, drink LOTS of water. I went from 230 to 180 by drinking about 2 gallons of ice water a day

it's nice because your body burns calories just heating up the water you drink to your body temperature, all while taking in no calories.

Water will fill you up, tubby. j/k ;)

That is an INSANE amount of weight you lost! RU going to the gym as well? I'd really like to lose about 12-15 pounds...I have started eating smaller portions (I can pack it away...) but it's the odd hours that I eat at that screw me up. I don't have a consistent schedule for my evening meal. Sometimes it's at 2100, sometimes at 2400 and every once in awhile at 0100...and I get up at 0530.

Oh, BTW, I'm 6'1", 218 pounds. When I was at 205 I looked and felt my best. Now, I have a little too much Body by Budweiser, if you get my spare tire, er, drift.

I wasnt on that cabbage diet or anything like that. I ate according to a diet I set up.

Mornings I would get some cereal, or a breakfast burrito at school. lunch depending on if I was hungry at 12 or I would wait. If I am not hungry then i will wait until I am hungry which in my case was around 2pm. I would then eat some fruits (apple's banana's), and some milk". Sort of a lower calorie diet. For dinner I would eat normal meal, and a nice serving of fruits and OJ or Milk.

Basically this is the rule, multiply your present weight times (18 for men, 16 for women), that is the number of calories required by your body. The problem is that assumes your active, once you put on weight you end up reducing your activity and becoming lazy.

The US avg. calorific value is 3060 calories, you need 2000 calories to live well, and 1200 to survive. I picked a number in between (1800 calories) and tried to keep up on it. It was hard at beginning but then it got better and all of a sudden I lost the weight. Now I am still loosing it but I have become a lot more active and my lean body is now using lots more calories, so I have to increase intake or I am fscked. I want to stay at 130-140 range.. nothing higher for me...

Edit:

i forgot to mention, I completely cut out fried foods and fatty foods. I also cut out coke, pepsi, etc etc, only thing I had was Nestea or Brisk. Burgers are fine, but Fries and other fried foods are a pain in the butt.. that is where you put on weight. The idea was to cut down fried stuff and pototaoes which in my case was my main problem in putting on weight. Once I cut that down that immediately showed up.

When I did eat fries I went healthy for the next day or two (salad's) for atleast 2 meals (usually lunch). That kept me in control..

I did excersise but not as much as I should be.. I am now going to be going to the gym so i can start building muscle..

The_good_guy, I did exactly the same thing as you with the exception that I used 1200 as my calorie intake. I am 5'10" and was 205 pounds. I am now 150 pounds, and have maintained that for over six months now. I eat 2000 calories a day or so now.

The old-fashioned calorie counting method really DOES work.

If you are hungry, grab a glass of milk. The milk curdles in the stomach and makes you feel full.

Good job!
I'm losing weight as well. My stats:

Height: 5'10.5" (i'll be 6' one day, damn it!!!)
starting: 206.5 lbs (on jan 2002)
current: 188.0 lbs
goal: 180.0 lbs (by july 1st 2002)

Foods I've abstained from:
for 2 years: no soda
for 6 months: no pizza, mozzarella, cheddar, parmesan, american, swiss, or any other cheese in a melty stage, mayo, candy, ice cream, orange chicken, anything fried, anything breaded, peanut butter, cookies, cake, chips, french fries

I've eaten some of the above once or twice at social situations when I could not avoid them. But I'm being really really good at staying away from the no-no list. I also have been keeping track of my caloric intake and the calories I burn when I go out biking.

My diet:
Lunch: foot-long Veggie sandwhich from subway (no cheese, no mayo, everything else)
Dinner: Usually minestrone or vegetable soup.
In between: oranges, oranges, bananas, and oranges.
I've also increased my daily intake of water to about a gallon a day.

I eat meat maybe 1-2 times a week. And eat pasta maybe 1 time every couple of weeks even though I shouldn't

As far as exercise goes, I biked a lot for the first 4 months. Lately I haven't had the time because of midterms/papers and whatnot. Also, I haven't really been putting emphasis to it since I'm close to my current goal.

Come July first, I intend to start doing weights regularly to become muscly[sic] : ) <flex>

Does anyone recommend any specifc caloric record-keeping programs? (PC or Palm)

Does that mean you will be changing your handle to anorexic guy?:D Congrats, but I'm jealous. I've gone from 225 to 200 since January, but I've hit a wall and can go lower. My goal was 180 by my vacation in July, but I don't think I'll make it now.:(
