I got this email a a few min ago and i tried using a paperclip to push the manual eject but no luck. any suggestions? when i push the eject button i hear it giveing a click like its wanting to open, samething when i try to eject it from file manager. in file manager it is not showing a disk inside and when i click on explore it opens another file manager window. :| I got a lot of crap to do and dont have time for this.

was in here working yesterday (Sunday) and my son was with me. Too keep him occupied I brought in some of his software games to play on ***** computer. For some reason one of the CDs got stuck in the CD drive. I'm not sure what happened but the door will not open. When you get a chance could you take a look at it?

I've used a flat head screw driver to pry open a drive before. It wasn't pretty, but I'm fairly sure it worked afterwards. I would recommend it only as a last resort. Give the paper clip another shot, sometimes you have to push hard. Try it with the power OFF, to avoid fighting against the motor.

this happened to my liteon DVD ROM.
i had to take it apart to get the CD out. the CD had gotten wedged and the paper clip trick thing wasnt opening the door.
and it was ugly, very ugly. ruined the drive.
oh well, it was a 16 dollar refurb job.

That is what i just had to do. Its a DVD/CD/RW drive in one of the new dell systems we bought our software testers. on each sideof the drive there are two indents that when pushed unlatches the faceplate, from there i was able to pry the tray open. I got the "readers rabbit" cd out and put the drive back in. and it still works.

If the paperclip thing isn't working you'll pretty much need to shut down the computer so the drive isn't powered. I've found that sometimes taking the drive out and shaking it can dislodge the disc enough to manually eject it. But no guarantees 😛
