In America, with those nice old cars, those oh so heart-melting balads and some good rock'n'roll. How was life back then?

00s please kthx.

I have the ballads on my Winamp playlist now. Hundreds of them. I wouldn't have in the 60s, and a girl who also liked them wouldn't be anything special. But that's another story..

Yeah those old cars were great. Too bad the chances are you would have been in the jungles of Vietnam.

Be careful what you wish for.

Hmmm... true. Or what about the 50s? You don't HAVE to go to the Army in America, right'

They were pretty good, too.
If you were drafted, you had to go into the Army unless you fled to Canada or someplace else outside the US.

So the Army is only a MUST if America is on war, right?

I mean like, if it's war and you're older then 18, chances are that you get drafted, right?

Frankly speaking, I hate the past, I want to live in the future. I don't want to ever look back. I have always wanted to live like thousands years from now, when there will be some kickas advanced technology and other cool things. Present day life is a boredom torture.

Booster: Well, when I watch those old cheesy 60s movies, it just looks like the world was ok back then(OK, I know Vietnam) compared to now.

So what was so good? They didn't even have the Internet. Maybe people were a little more educated, more clever and more harmonious back then since the pace of life wasn't that fast, but hey even now it's way too slow for me.

I would've loved to live in the 50's. Thugs carried knives instead of guns, and they'd drag race in the streets on their way to the drive-in diner. And they'd say things like "That's boss."

Why? Perhaps it was for them.

not particularly... only been a couple wars where the draft was really needed, that was the civil war and vietnam... i wonder what percent of the able bodied 18 year old males were actually drafted, i doubt its over 25%

The 60s were an unsettled time, I don't think that living through it was 'great', but hindsight is 20/20. We lost more guys every day from Vietnam than we did from the total of both gulf wars combined. Riots, the US army protecting the capital ('68), it was surely a growing up period for this country. Our lives today were forged from that fire.

The 70s were pretty decent, you could have a sit down meal with the family at a reasonable time (about 6PM) and still be able to do things in the evening besides veg in front of the TV. As far as being wasted, the last few years of the 70s was like that for me (think That 70s Show,) tho I am sure more people spent more of the 70s that way.

We still had to worry about getting nuked and the cold war as we did in the 60s, but that was par for the course. Life still seemed easier then than it does now. Go figure.

I'd probably stay for a few years... not just summer.
Enough time to follow the dead around in a VW bus or some other vehicle.
