Damn, I thought I would never pay $1000 for a hard drive again!

That sucks... (Adding 5th drive to RAID 5 array now, for much cheaper too).

They are pretty much the fastest SCSI HDs on the market today, so the price is justified.

Amen. Can't wait for a day off, to build my new box and try them. This one is gonna be the juke box and video server for the house. :D

Why would you do that? ARe you running a server off a T1?

No. T3

This house has lots of flat screen monitors, with each room having access to a monster A/V library. ;)

Damn a residential T3? What do you pay a month? Where are you located? and how much was the install to run?

$1000+ for a 150GB drive? Holy moly, for that price it better clean the house and wash the car for me as well. That's one heck of a setup there!

<Pokerguy slinks away in shame with mere striped array of WD's>

Call me skeptical, but I have a very hard time believing that somebody would have an $8,000-$15,000 A MONTH dedicated connection running into their home.

Hes about to drop $4,000+ on a HD array and acts like its not that big of a deal. I can believe him...

You can actually go up to 8, if I;m not mistaken.

you can do 3 drive raid 5. also, one drive isn't exclusively parity, the parity bits mixed in throughout the array.

Depends upon your controller. I can have 32 drives (4 8-port controllers co-existing for a RAID 5 array). Just FYI.

Man you've come a long way. I remember just a couple of years ago you were here begging for money so you could pay Vet bills.
