I couldn't get the heatsink off, so I put it in the freezer. The hs popped right off, but now I get no display :(

That's what I get for experimenting!

Anyone have a success story?

Be careful that you didn't get any extra compount between the pins of the chip, and also that you didn't scratch or wreck anything with the screwdriver you used to pop the heatsink off. Look for obvious damage first, such as scratches, gouges, and burn marks. After that, I really can't suggest anything, except for maybe sucking it up and buying a Geforce MX.

edit:
WHen you took it from the freezer, how long did you wait before you tried to use it? By freezing the board, frost could accumulate in places you don't even want to think about having wet. Blast it with a hair drier, or better yet, leave it at room temperature for a day or two, then try it again.

This is why I never recommend putting a video card in the freezer. Sure it makes the glue brittle enough to break easily, but the extreme cold also crystalizes the silicon on the PCB as well, making components on the card just as susceptable to damage as the glue. Good luck with it, but personally, I think you're screwed.

Tried it again a second time and the video came back on...must've plugged it into the agp slot incorrectly..

Is it just me, or did I already diagnose this problem? ;)

I was going to say! A video card in deep freeze. Well it should work thank goodness on your part dl. MaximumPC had an issue with a TNT card in a block of ice or what seemed like it. And they claimed it works. So I think running things with water in them... BAD! ;)
