Little background on this situation. Everyday when I come home from school or work I take my wallet/keys/checkbook and put it on the coffee table OR my computer desk. Those are the two places downstairs that I can easily keep up with my stuff. I usually use the coffee table to pay my bills also. I have done this for about 4 years without a problem. Last Friday I paid a bill like normal at the coffee table.
Last Saturday, my girlfriend decided to clean the coffee table. She is one of those people that can't handle any clutter. Personally, I think the coffee table is not useful unless you are actually using it to put stuff on. She doesn't feel this way. She doesn't want anything on it except for drinks. Anyways, I think she cleaned the coffee table and threw out my checkbook. I had not touched it since Friday. So it either grew legs and walked away, she put it somewhere and doesn't remember now, or she threw it in the trash. Either way, today I have to go to my landlord and pay rent. Another issue is the problem that I have no idea what check number I wrote on Friday. I can't really call the bank and have them check #-# because I have no idea what numbers.
Of course, I love my girlfriend's responce to this situation, you have no proof I threw it out. She saw me Friday sit down and write a check out. She saw me leave it on the table. And of course she knows I don't ever really carry the thing around unless I have to since I use a debit card anywhere and anytime that I can.
I think I prefer my clutter because I may not be able to find things in 5 seconds but I at least know they are there. It just might take me 5 minutes to find it.
Well that is my rant for the morning.......
