Damn Hercules Gamer XP!

I just bought a Hercules Gamer XP at a local BestBuy. Brand new, in a box. Connected to my Klipsch 4.1 (bought it there the same day :)). No sound out of rear-right speaker. Connected a different speaker there - same deal. Switched FRONT and REAR plugs on the Gamer XP - and again the rear-right speaker is silent.

So I conclude it is caused by a faulty rear-speaker jack on the Theater XP. It gives out only 1 channel instead of 2. Opened the box - it looked Ok..

Wtf, this is the first piece of hardware I bought that's defective right out of the box!

Anyone else have similar problems?

yes!
same exact problem...its weird though...plug in a pair of headphones, switch everything to four speakers and run the test...

you'll find that the missing speaker output goes to the headphone jack.

very weird...I dunno how to fix it.

I heard a similar problem, but aren't the kipslitchs digital?

the headphone jack activates when it detects something plugged into it and automatically reverts the driver settings to headphones only (usually)

I don't think so - they take a Front stereo and Rear stereo (so 2 stereo plugs). Cambridge DTT3500/DTT2500 are digital, but not Klipsch.

not on mine, even with it unplugged it doesn't work.
Also when I use headphones I have to switch it so I don't get output on my speakers too.

I have read either in the manual or in the new driver readme or in a review that the drivers will switch, and have seen it personally happen when I had a GTXP.

Ok, Hercules/Guillemot tech support is AWESOME (1-877-GUILLEMOT)

Just called them, got connected to a real person 15 seconds later, and they said that this is not a common issue with the Game Theater XP. They suggested returning it (and exchanging for another one). I will do that.

P.S. They said that the "missing" channel is not to be expected on the headphone jack or anything like that..

hmm maybe I'll do that with mine too...I've put up with it for a while.
VBBoy let me know if the next one you get is fixed.
