Piercing pain usually focused through one eye or another, dull pain through most of the forehead. God, this can't be normal. I probably take advil or alieve at least 3 times a week.

What could be causing headaches like this so frequently?

I have seen a doctor about it whenI was much younger - like maybe 14 years ago. They found absolutely nothing. Worthless SOBs

I think you're leaking pee internally and it's getting into your bloodstream and going to your brain.

we need to know which head you are referring to before we can make an accurate diagnosis.

When that head starts throbbing, it's a good thing!

Piercing pain focused in one orbit or the other? Any tearing associated with it? Sounds like it may be a cluster headache (or a migraine). I'd suggest going to a doctor. There are medications available which are effective at preventing headaches. By the way, taking lots of anti-inflammatory OTCs (advil, naproxene, etc.) can actually make the headache worse (rebound headache).

No tearing - usually extreme sensitivity to light, occasionally sound and accompanied by nausea. Sounds typical of a migraine. A cold compress, rest (usually closed eyes), and an analgesic manage to tame the worst of the pain within an hour. Of course, my typical dosage is 2 advil or 1 naprox. If I were taking something asperine or acetominophen based it would be 3 of either (and that's 3 EXTRA strength Tylenol). Acetominophen usually doesn't even touch my headaches - I've always had little reaction to tylenol as far as any sort of pain relief.

I've been having these headaches for quite some time - I can remember them as far back as probably about 12 years old. They seemed to be far worse then though - I remember writhing in pain on my bed in the dark - wishing I were dead... that's how bad the pain was. I would usually pass out after an hour or two.

What you are describing sounds like a migraine. Be careful about taking too much advil, aspirin or naproxen. These NSAIDs can erode the lining of your stomach if you take too much or already have underlying stomach problems (ulcers, gastritis, etc). Also watch your acetaminophen intake. DO NOT exceed the recommended maximum daily intake as this could cause liver failure (ie. death if no transplant).

There are medications available that can help prevent migraines and significantly decrease the freequency. Also meds to break the migraines once they come on.

No need to suffer like this. Definitely go see your physician. (remember to mention light sensitivity, sound sensitivity, nausea. any flashing lights? which side of head? how often do you get it? relieved with rest and closing eyes. most doctors will get this info from you anyway).

You might have sinus problems, and you're getting sinus headaches. My mother gets headaches like that do to her sinus problems. Try taking some medication for sinus problems, or mention it to your doctor and maybe he'll prescribe something for you.

try excedrin tension headache. I've been getting some really bad headaches recently (along the side of my head down to my neck) and these pills worked great.

I was thinking sinus headaches a while ago. But some of the symptoms and the fact that things like sudafed sinus and such didn't help have me thinking otherwise.
