Damn Fix-it tickets

Pulled over for expired registration sticker. Cop had a Valid reason for pulling me over. I received the 2007 sticker, but forgot to put it on. When he asks for everything I hand him my license, ins, registration with the 2007 sticker still attached.

He goes away and does his thing. Comes back explaining he is going to give me a fix-it ticket. He starts going into how any police officer can sign off on it, or even anyone from the DMV. Like I am going to go to that hell-hole.

Then I politely ask, since he is an officer of the law, if I put the sticker on right now, could he sign off on it. Of course he refuses seeing as that would make the fix-it ticket worthless to begin with....bingo! He starts explaining I need to do that when I am home where it is "safe". I parked way the fvck off the side of the road with a CHP cruiser parked directly behind me with a local speed limit of 35. You can't get any safer, really. I could understand if it was on the freeway, or a busier street.

I saw a cop yesterday on the side of the road assisting in a car accident. This was on 880 going southbound right after the auto mall exit. Anyways the cop was wearing a hat and it flew off his head from the right emergency to about the 2nd lane. Then he proceeds to chase it while on going traffic is coming!! The two right lanes come to a complete stop for a couple seconds. It may not seem like a long time but traffic is usually heavy with lots of speeders.

Paperwork detailing where, why, and how we lost the hat, then we have to put in a request for a new one. They might even garnish the wages too to pay for it.

Yea, I just don't get it. I pulled over right away, pulled way the fvck off the road so we would be safe and was polite the entire time. The jackass still wouldn't let me hope out of my car and stick it on, literally would have taken 10 seconds.

Greatest thing I've ever heard happened to a friend of mine. He was involved in a parking lot fender bender and it knocked one of his back turn signals out. After getting a police report (you can get them on private property here), he drove about a mile down the road and got pulled over. He received a fix-it ticket for the tail-light -- even after showing the new officer his recent receipt for an accident police report. I thought it was funny.

got pulled, ticket, got the sticker, forgot to go to the courhouse to see the DA to get it dropped.....and he came by a couple of weeks ago trying to round-up votes and took care of it for me :)

I didn't get a chance to put the sticker on until the next day, but man would I have been pissed if I got another fix-it ticket for the same thing on the same day. Unlikely as I was driving around without it since Feb.

What was the cops reasoning for ignoring the police report?

Well, jurisdictions changed in that mile, so it wasn't the same department. I believe his reasoning was that he should have had the car towed if it was "unsafe" to drive. Or something. This happened a while ago and it is an anecdotal account, so I can't even be sure it is 100% truthful!
