Damn, first LCD monitor, and I get a bad pixel almost right in the middle

Just bought my first LCD monitor, Samsung 710n. I got it off of Buy.com, and it came today. Everything in fine except for one pixel that is stuck red, just left and down an inch or so from center. Argh! Why couldn't it have been on the upper left or something? I know Samsung's policy is 10 or more for this monitor, but has anyone sent a monitor back for just one really annoying stuck pixel?

You might want to try "massaging" the pixel back to normal with a q-tip. I don't know how it works, I've just heard of people doing that. Try searching a google to see if you can find an answer. Good luck!

Kinda takes the excitement right out of LCD ownership doesn't it.... Sorry to hear that. I hope the OEM doesn't have a "minimum" dead pixel count for RMA's. Most company's have a 7 dead pixel count and I have seen it as high as ten. It's BS if you asked me.

Samsung has a 10 bad pixel count rule for 17" LCD's. There should also be an "annoying ass dead pixel" factor. Because if this pixel was in the far upper corner, I wouldn't care. But right in the damn middle is very noticeable and annoying.

This sometimes works with stuck pixels so you might as well give it a try. Otherwise use a ball-point pen and break 9 more pixels so you can return it

anyone knows how many BtB (black-to-black) switches pixel is usually rated to withstand? Or is it generally unlimited?

Massagin dead pixels out rarely works, ESPECIALLY if they are red, however this article also tells you the correct way to do it. Check it out.

Massaging didn't work for mine either, however about 20 seconds of "rolling" with graduating pressure and a q-tip (a.k.a. cotton swab) whipped the red subpixel back into shape. That was one time about a year ago and it has never returned. As in the other thread those many moons ago, I can't be held responsible if the substrate cracks though Good luck.
