If she makes it a career in the military, the honors she will recieve could lead to a very rewarding high ranking position. The military honors heros, and if this is coraberated, she deserves the highest of honor as a soldier, a woman, an AMERICAN!

I hope she can make it through decompression and overcome whatever other torture they gave her. What an awesome story.

Time for some good old American capitalism to come in and pay her a few million for her story.

You know damn well there's network TV people over there chomping at the bit.

Heard on the news this morning that two Universities have offered her full scholarships and a Kuwaiti ambassador has offered to buy her a new car.

Apparently, the governor of W.Va. said that her education would be completely paid for so she can become a teacher. I think that it is pretty much survival instincts that kick in. I mean if you see buddies dying around you it will make you fight all the harder for them and for you not to be killed as well. All in all a pretty "tough as nails" kinda woman it sounds like.

She earned a couple of medals and a lifetime of honor.....

She looks like a twig, can't imagine the damage two bullets did to her legs, the fact that she still continued fighting EFFECTIVELY, killing at least 2 Iraqi soldiers is incredible, regardless of gender.

Anyone here think there's a possibility that when it's all said and done that she may be awarded the Medal of Honor for her actions? It's kinda sounding like she might have performed an act worthy of it.

The Medal of Honor is awarded by the President in the name of Congress to a person who, while a member of the military, distinguishes himself or herself conspicuously by gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life or her life above and beyond the call of duty while engaged in an action against an enemy of the United States; while engaged in military operations involving conflict with an opposing foreign force; or while serving with friendly foreign forces engaged in an armed conflict against an opposing armed force in which the United States is not a belligerent party.

The deed performed must have been one of personal bravery or self-sacrifice so conspicuous as to clearly distinguish the individual above his comrades and must have involved risk of life. Incontestable proof of the performance of the service will be exacted and each recommendation for the award of this decoration will be considered on the standard of extraordinary merit.

Thanks Dave. I knew that information already. I guess I was asking for more of a "public opinion" type thing with regards to the MOH here. Perhaps a poll?

U.S. Army Congressional Medal of Honor Citations

You might make your own comparision based upon previous recipients as to whether her actions could indeed justify the CMH. Without going into numerous specifics, personally, I don't think so either.

Nevertheless, she is most certainly one hard core little girl from up a holler in WVA, who is very deserving of praise and recognition.

Actually, I was thinking the commandos who rescued her might be up for this award.
