try resetting bios. usually there is a jumper for that on the board so check out your mobo manual. if not, just pop out the baterey for a few seconds and pop it back in.
if that doesn't work, i'd try resetting the video card

It will help if you post your complete specs :) but here's a first suggestion: check your heatsink installation skiLlz, y0

There are some motherboards that won't POST without an RPM signal on the CPUFAN header, too. SOYO is notable for this (on SOYO boards, hold down the Insert key before/during POST so you can get into the BIOS and disable the F.O.C. feature). If your new heatsink/fan unit doesn't send RPMs, then this could be a gotcha too.

mobo is Abit NF7-S
come to think of it, cooler that I got, Aero 7 Lite
had 4 pin power connector but it also had 3 pin connector to mother board, but this connector only had 1 wire... i didn't bother connecting that to the motherboard since i'll connect that to the motherboard and see if it posts..

Certainly sounds like the CMOS needs to be cleared, as suggested above. Or (heaven forbit) you chipped the CPU core during fan installation.

If after verifying connections and clearing the CMOS you still have problems, examine the CPU, looking for chips or cracks on the core.

Be sure to pop the battery out while the pc is unplugged. I had problems with forgetting to unplug the system and trying to reset the cmos with the battery out, apparently the cmos still retained its info due to power from the board
