I had a busy week, and there was a bit of bird shit on the trunk of my car. I washed it off finally when I had time, but it was too late. There is now a mark on my trunk. It's not the most prominent mark ever. Though it's very noticeable when you look at it.

I'm not too sure if I can remove it or if it has altered my paint for good. Anyway, let me know if you guys have a fix for it.

Thanks guys.

First try working a "cleaner wax" over it. Cleaner waxes include very light polishing agents that can take off most of that "stain" kind of stuff. If that doesn't clean it off, try a light polish, like Meguiars Scratch X. I'm willing to bet the cleaner wax will be enough to take it off, though. I love that stuff for oil and sap stains.

From now on, keep your car waxed and you'd be surprised how well it will protect against that kind of stuff.

Yea, make sure next time you remove that bird shit and dont let it sit. The crap has some acid in it that can etch the paint. Hope you don't have any permanent etching

That is why when a bird shits on my car I wipe it off right away. First I try with Windex, if that doesn't work I use Bug & Tar remover. If that doesn't work it's boiling water.

That's not bad for the paint?

I don't think so? It cools down a bit by the time I come outside with the kettle.

The birds in the city take mutant toxic shits. They feed off hotdog buns and random bums with a lot of bread. Trust me, when that shit dries up in the sun, it's almost impossible to get off. Hot water is the only thing that works in extreme cases.

I have both, but I use whatever is at hand honestly, my car don't have no tints, can ammonia harm it still?

Shit happens. Sorry, I couldn't resist. :D

When I bought my car, there was a mark on the roof, where bird muck had eaten through the clear coat to the coat below. The dealer had to have the roof partially re-sprayed (as we agreed for the sale).

The same thing happened with my previous car bonnet; it had bird muck on it for about a week and it ate straight through the paint to the primer.

My point is that it doesn't take very long for it to cause damage, especially if you live in an area (like a city) where the birds eat god knows what. It also depends on how good the paint job was to begin with (some manufacturers are better than others). Its f*cking annoying though and expensive.
