oops, posted before wrote message 😛

anyway, i've been having an epic battle with the ants in my house, they've taken the second hall, we have barred the gate, but cannot hold it for long. we cannot get out. we cannot get out. they are coming!

oops, i mean summer has hit in full force and sent ants all through our house... i swear this house was built on 600 ant nests...anyway, they came in from under the carpet behind my dresser, snaked along my coax cable to the outlet in the wall, crawled over my computer, and onto and into my entire desk...

i pulled out the entire desk, and have pulled out the computer and cleaned it's innards, reran all the cabling, and vaccuumed all the ants, and am now finishing cleaning the ants up....

anyone know where i can find a caulk type stuff that is ant poison? i wanna put that down behind my dresser...

I'm finding HUGE black ants this year, far larger then I have seen in the past. Plus they essentially took over my garage; I just don't go in there anymore. Gotta roll a bomb in there I guess.

To add insult about 50% of the ones in the garage are of the winged variety. And that is just wrong.

I had trouble with ants once. I put out a bowl fulled with a thick sugar and water solution. the ants climbed in and could not get out.

BAH that just brings more.....i'd say, put food idems away (like in refrig) and clean all surfaces.......you can try ant bombs (do they still make em? or was that fleas) *shrugs*

but yea, if you calk behind a dresser that should stop em, i dont think they have "ant-killin' calk"....

just get ant traps.....lots

Be thankful you don't have meat ants.
Description- BIG, RED, NASTY!!!
Last seen- Austalian Outback.
Habits- Will surround you house with multiple nests, move in, and take over.
To terminate- 50/50 gas/oil+lighter

my family uses a mixture of karo and boric acid solution. works really well.

Buy some Diazinon and in 24 hours you will have only dead ants and it has a great residual effect. you spray this in your house and out side and your

epic battle

Is over and won.

You can thank me latter.

The Combat traps worked for a month or so ... now they are coming back ... :| I kill at least 1 a day... and those are just the ones I manage to see. These carpenter ants (the black ones you guys are referring to) are nocturnal.

Spray them with lysol...the yellow liquid kind. It kills them. (It also kills silverfish too).

No... Durspan was banned. I would not spray Diazinon inside your house. Works very good on the outside, though.

BTW you only need to use a LITTLE diazinon.
I would just spray a tad were I found the ant coming in.
Then spran around the foundation of the house.

Don't know about CA, but I've heard down south it's the norm to have a contract with an exterminator. Your lawn can be treated with an extra chemical for grubs, so I suppose they could throw some kind of ant poison in there too.

We use Diazinon spray around here (in Ohio) if they get bad outside, but I haven't needed it in years. I put Sevin Dust on the door sills between the screen door and the main door. It's pretty safe, so you can sprinkle that EVERYWHERE! Takes care of spiders, ants and everything in between.

Make sure there is no leaking plumbing in the crawl space or wherever. Make sure there's no water leaking through the roof. Ants need water and set up house where there is a steady supply of moisture.
