well, i have left the tv unplugged for a full day now after this started. The TV is about 1 year old and has been used a lot but this is weird. The TV will power on, show fuzz for .5 seconds, and then suddenly it will go black and the red power light just flashes... anyone have any ideas? I know i should call tech support and i am. but was wondering if anyone had any input on ideas for the problem...

it is 7 blinks inbetween pauses... grr... i do like their tech support though very quick to help.

Seems to be a fairly common problem with these TVs. At least I found a lot of the same thing by Googling. If it's under warranty it will be fixed.

Use the warranty protection from your credit card or see what you can do OVER THE PHONE with panasonic.

i will, but first i have to figure out exactly when i purchased it, i know the receipt is back at my house, and im in toledo. I could have my CC look up when i bought it, but that costs $5 which i might do but i have to first figure out what month i purchased it which is the main point of this entire process...

The SAME thing happened to me with this exact same TV. Turns out I was 2 months outside the warranty. Luckily I was able to get Mastercard to extend my warranty insurance, actually they ended up paying me the cost of the TV since the repairs were more than the cost of the TV itself.

You should be OK with Panasonic according to the experiences posted over at AVS forums over this issue.

Call panasonic, they'll usually fix it right out of warranty. But yeah the control boards failed and 7 lights points to power regulation failure. My pz77u did it after having the tv 2 months

the cost is $531... but panny is warrantying it... much less than i expected. I only had to pay $75 to get it inspected.

OK. Bought one, TH-42PX80U, on Monday the 16th. Brought it home, turned it on, started setup, TV shut off. No blinking LED, nothing. Let is set for 10 minutes. Tried again, same thing. Tried several more times. No luck. Back to Sears it went. Bummer is it was the last one they had and they aren't getting any more in. It was IMO as steal at $599. IF it had only worked.

We really don't want to spend anymore than that for a bedroom TV. You can hardly get a decent 32" for that. 40" is about the right size, 37" would work, 32" is kind of small.

Any recommendations for an inexpensive TV that would have PQ close to the Panny?
Thanks
