IT is really starting to piss me off. Not only do they block Yahoo! and Hotmail e-mail, now they've blocked the web based e-mail provided by my ISP. So now all I'm left with is my originpoint account(s). Not that I have anything against them, but I wanted to be able to check my Teleport account, dammit! Plus, they stole my box & ghosted it with NT.

Friggin' morons...

I don't understand why they block eMail. Porno, or warez stuff, sure, but eMail?

Yes, IT is my company's IT department. They're morons. They block so much stuff it's not even funny. URL's with key words are blocked, so if the tech zone happens to put up an article with the word "babes" in the URL? You're screwed. You can't check your Hotmail or Yahoo! mail, file downloads are blocked, anything with "chat" in the URL is blocked... Damn, it's annoying.

On a slightly funnier note, though, a couple months ago someone printed out probably a hundred of the "Blocked by Surfwatch" messages, & posted them all over the place. They posted them in the hall, in the bathroom (over the stalls, on the mirrors), they posted them on phones, doors, even put them in the empty bins in the vending machines. Was funny if you worked here, & was as frustrated as everyone else.

Oh well, when I go home I'll have full 'net access once again. And on a 952 instead of this POS 233.

Can you use a anonymous surfing site as a "proxy" if you will? I know at work our router is "hosed" and can't hit many sites like slashdot, so until we get the new network online next week I just use www.anonymizer.com I also just check my email by telnetting to my server, but I"m sure they think thats unsafe too hehe.

Hehe Ive even seen things that let you access the web through e-mail. You just get the page you request through e-mail.

I wouldnt reccomend it AT ALL though... :p

I am glad that my Internet connection at work is not hindered in this manner. We have a firewall, but it's become less restrictive over the last year or so.

I am sure I'd get nailed if I tried to access pr0n or anything like that at work. All I do is check my mail, hit a few mainstream sites like CNN.com, and a few other harmless sites.
