This really sucks!! I've been with my ISP for 3+ years and love them. Today I find out that Earthlink came in and scooped them up. I've never heard a positive thing about Earthlink and I'm really pissed. I was just checking their rates and I'm going to get hit for a helluva lot more than I have been paying. I have DSL(5 email address, 100mb Web space, shell account, usenet news, etc...) and pay $14.40 a month for it(the phone company charge is $39.95) and according to the email I recieved Earthlink will not allow this and I must go through them for my DSL and will not have nearly the amount of web space, no shell account, no usenet, etc.... Yeah right....try and make me punks. I realize that my DSL would be cheaper through Earthlink, $50 instead of $54.35 but I will be missing some features and will not have near the web space. To get those things would cost me a lot more through Earthlink.

I also pay for my parent's account which has also been $14.40 and is a dialup account. To get the same number of email addresses, web space(which is important because my Dad maintains a geneology site), etc... will now cost me $29.95 a month. Yeah right....I have until August 15th to find a new ISP. Damn this really makes me mad.

Yup Earthlink sucks. They have to have the stupidest techs known to man....

I was having line sync problems with my DSL line (which is maintained by PacBell). Anyways I call Earthlink and ask them to contact Pacbell to fix it. (I know it was line sync problems because the sync light on the modem would go into its little syncing stages over and over again). Anyways, long story short, the EL tech makes me email them the amazon and yahoo trace routes and I do so figuring it will make them happy.

A few days later I get a response telling me that is not their problem but a problem with Amazon.com. So let me get this straight, my line desyncing is due to Amazon.com. Dont think about that sentence for too long, it may hurt your brain.

One of my uncle's that has Earthstink had a similar occurrence. His DSL kept having sync problems and they tried to blame it on the local cable company sabotaging his line. Funny how when he called me and told me what was going on I just had him power off and on his DSL modem and the problem went away.

My Dial-Up ISP has been all over the place, and that's no joke. I use JPS.net, which was bought out a year ago by OneMain.. OneMain was then bought out by MindSpring, and like a few months ago, MindSpring was bought out by Earthlink. Ever since JPS.net was bought out by MindSpring, it's actually been better, for with OneMain I couldn't get a decent connection after 10:00pm Pacific.. With Earthlink, I can brag and say I pay $10 a month for my connection through Earthlink :) I think when I signed up 3 years ago it was $100 a year, now it's like $120 a year, $20 more a year than it was in 97' or so.

I've had good service with Earthlink DSL, there phone techs are bad though but there probably low paid so what do you expect. DSL can be problematic, your dealing with three companies and they usually pass the buck.

Nah in my case Im only dealing with two Pacbell and Earthlink. And I know that they are underpaid and underqualified, which is why I specifically told them to call Pacbell and put in a trouble ticket for my line. Like its that hard to follow instructions....
