Dammit i've been robbed!

Someone broke into my car last night(early morning)... I have a strong suspicion of who they could be associated with.

Someone has owed me money for almost a year and I finally got around to attempting to take him to court. Gave him a deadline of March the 11th to contact me with my money. He calls me on the 12th to give me a down payment. Then he starts chit chatting(I used to work with the guy, & I know he knows some shady people) tellin me about how things are and he starts asking me what i'm up to and if i'm still living alone and everything. We briefly get into a discussion about if I actually did take him to court he would have ways out of it and I didn't really say anything but i'm sure he could tell I was pissed. Now what a coincidence that this happens that very same day! I've been living here for 4 years with no problems on my street til today. :|

Needless to say... had I not attempted to be civil and send certified letters with my address saying I wanted my money in a polite way I might not have had about $1800 worth of audio equipment stolen. 🙁

This sucks a$$! I was trying hard to tell myself a few weeks ago that I shouldn't just go key his car or something instead... but now I wish I did.

Insurance should cover the $ for the lost goods and repairs to my door... but dammit i've been violated! :disgust:

So you think he had the stuff stolen, will sell it, then give you the money he makes off of the sale?

Sorry to hear about being robbed🙁 What did the police say? Maybe there were a bunch of robberies in your area?

Unfortunately this is all over $250.

I didn't go file to court filing since he payed me $100 of the money owed and said i'll have the rest at the end of the month. Think I should go ahead and file the court papers? It's an initial $77 out of my own pocket and i'm not so sure if I win that he can't wiggle his way out of payment somehow.

What sucks is my deductable on insurance is pretty high... I think $500 or $700 so I have to come up with that money too 🙁

You were going to take him to court for $250?

$250 is enough to say "Don't loan that person money again," but hardly worth going to court for.

Just my $0.02 though.

$250 is a good chunk of change for a college student. 🙁

Sold him an old laptop last may for $350, he made $100 payment... never anymore. Since I no longer work there I wasn't able to really do anything about it.

I hope you reported this story with the police. It shows he had a motive.

Told the police the whole story... they didn't even ask for his name. :|

I don't think they'll be able to prove anything.

If $250 is a good chunk of change, how did you acquire $1800 in audio gear?

Had a job when I bought the stuff 2-3 years ago(yeah it's value probably depreciated) but am currently unemployed seeking! :disgust:

hehe, good question...but I'm sure it was just one of his main hobbies, just like many of ours is computers...you may spend a lot on it, but doesn't mean that every additional cent isn't precious.

Sorry to hear about your loss...and yeah, the police suck. 🙂 (This is after getting something taken out of my car on a trip over MLK weekend, don't get all weird)

if i were you id keep quiet about this and be patient...dont go ranting and venting to alot of peopel about it and who you think did it...just be low key and accept it happened, the more people you tell the more likely it will be for it to get back to him and give him the satisfaction of knowing he got you back. If you talk to him dont even tell him what happened, if he asks u about it act like it was no sweat off your back...

just be patient..... sooner or later he will probably be stupid enough to brag about what he did then you got him...and he will get whats coming to him...

call the police... tell them ur situation.. and ask them to get fingerprints off your car... if it matches ur friends.. tell them to book him

I don't have to worry about that... like I said... I *used* to work with him.... I don't really talk to anyone from that place anymore and yesterday was the first time i've been in touch with him since about 8 or 9 months ago(other than emails saying to please send my money).

Unfortunately... I don't think there are fingerprints anywhere. I had a friend come over today who has been working in the car parts biz for several years and after looking it all over... he agree's it was definately a professional job. It wasn't just some kid down the street making a smash and grab job. More than likely there were two people to disable to alarm so fast that it didn't alert attention. I know this guy has some crimnal friends... he's ghetto like that... kinda why I didn't like him in the first place. Guess I learned my lesson about selling stuff to people you work with... without getting payment upfront.
