My house power for whatever reason kicked off and on and now my tv will not come on. the light by the power button will flash on and off for a bit and the screen will come on but be black, then it goes in standby mode where the light is red. It is a Samsung DLP, does this sound like a blown bulb?

Yeah, I'd check the user manual. Not sure that sounds exactly like a blown bulb to me.

My DLP did the same after my gf blew the circuit breaker. Once I got power back, I unplugged the set, and left it unplugged for 15 minutes. When I turned it back on, all was well, and I put it on a ups.

If this works for you, you should do the same.

For what it's worth, I think that DLPs > LCDs.

A friend of mine has a DLP TV that compares very well with many $2300 50" LCD televisions in terms of picture quality.

Except it's not 50".

It's 65".

And that 30% more screen area makes a big difference. If you're like me and don't watch a lot of TV (just movies), the bulb life is a non-issue.

Led dlp will probably last longer than lcd's/plasmas, so why the hate? Plus id rather have a 70lbs 56" led dlp than a 120lb 46" plasma.

60" Plasma is 110 pounds, 50" is 85.

It's completely correct.

It's all about 'personal' preference. I don't like the DLP image or LCD ones. I much prefer plasma images.

DLPs are nice when you sit in the sweet spot. Sitting off axis sucks on them to me. I really want an LED DLP but the viewing angles just kill them for me :(

Also where did you find a 50" LCD, I can only remember them making 52" LCDs and 50" Plasmas.
