Now most of you may not know who Zakir Hussain is, and hence you may not care about my rant...regardless, I shall rant as this is one of my outlets...

anyway, Zakir Hussain is one of the greatest Indian classical musicians in the world. He played/plays alongside Ravi Shankar as well as other bands such as Shakti (John McLaughlan's band).

He & this brothers (along with some other people) had a concert here yesterday in Toronto, I found out about it today! This is a once in a life time chance to see all of them together...and I missed it. And so it pisses me off.

If any of you guys in Toronto are interested in Indian classical music, here's a website that has a bunch of concert listings... link

lol indian discusiion... do you have an accent?

edit: im assuming your frmo bramington or whatever it is?

umm...no accent. Anyone can listen to this kinda music, there's no hindi in it (well in most of his songs).

I'm from Scarborough...dunno any place called bramington..altho there is a Brampton.

I think he played here in NY at Lincoln Center last year. A friend of mine did an opening dance with her dance group (classical Indian dance) for him. She wanted me to go, but I never heard of him prior to her mentioning it, so I passed.

Yea, He's awesome. Initially, I wasn't too interested in Indian music, but after one of his concerts a few years ago, all that changed. I'm no expert, but some of the things he can do are just amazing.

I got to meet him and his family a few years ago at their home through a friend of a friend. Though he's somewhat of an "international celebrity"... well... not really, he was down to earth and just a good guy.

I don't think this will be a once in a lifetime opportunity though... I'm not sure how often he comes to Toronto, but he's usually here in Portland, Oregon at least once per year. I'm sure he'll be back in your area.

Not sure if it matters, but it's related to Indian concerts 😉 There was a concert with Hrithik Roshan this past weekend in Chicago... I was going to go with the family, but we ended up not going, I'm getting sick of Hrithik
