Dammit! All Downloads Hang at 99%

I'm pretty sure it's not a browser problem because it happens when I download with both IE6 and Mozilla. The download will work like normal until it hits 99% and then it just stays there like it's trying to download something. It never hits 100% and it NEVER stops? What could be the problem.

Probably a Software problem not hardware, most likely virus, trojan, spyware, adware. For spyware see the sticky thread in Software.

have you tried using a download manager or accelrator?

I have something like that happen in the past and either used real download or getright to get them instead of the IE downloader....I perfer getright, its a great program if you are having problems downloading things.

Usually (at least IE) downloads into a temporary folder and once it is complete, then it will copy the file(s) to the destination you specified when you started the download, then will display 100% VERY quickly and the window disappears. Sounds like a FAT or Folder issue to me. Have you tried Scandisk/Chkdsk/Defragment or selecting another location for the download?

I was thinking that if you have a virus scanner it could be set up to scan the files as soon as you finish downloading them and if the scanner isn't working properly it could be screwing it up.
