Damaged XP Pro Disk, Any Help?

I reformatted my HD recently, only to find that my Windows XP Professional disk is damaged. It looks like the folder that holds it slipped off the desk, right next to the radiator. It's one of those big circa 1900 steam heated metal "stoves". The disk is useless, and microsoft wants to charge an insane amount for a replacement disk. I have my key and docs still. I am wondering if any kind AT'er could possibly burn me a copy? I'd be willing to pay a little bit for it. I don't think this would violate any copyright rules, since I bought the rights to use the product.

Thanks,
Aaron

Adding up what I was told by the CSR, for the disk, fees, shipping, whatever, it was going to be around $40 or $50. Seems like a bit much for one cd.

poohhairt, I don't think it would be legal for someone here to send you a burned copy of XP Pro, as we don't have anything besides your word to prove that you did indeed bought it. For the record, I'm NOT calling you a liar, just stating the possibilities. Perhaps if you take the disc to the store you purchased it from, maybe they can do an even exchange for you. BTW, $40.00 to $50.00 IS quite a bit for a replacement disc.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I'll have to look around locally, or search those "secret" places and prepare myself for a 40 hour download.

I'm pretty sure that if you send them the damaged CD, and your proof of ownership they will replace it for you for just the cost of shipping.
