DAMAGED XBOX 360 DISC

Hey guys, did a bit of research online about the ring of death for the discs

Link

Apparently this can be repaired by a professional resurfacing shop? I'm curious if any of you guys know of a place that can do this 🙂

LOCAL would be good, I'm in Southern Cal 🙂

Thanks in advance

i think... basically all you have to do is buff it out. with a ton of elbow grease and the right tools/compounds you could probably do it yourself. the question is: is it worth it?

Hm, I heard that sometimes if you try to buff it out that you can do more harm and good, I'm just fearful of making it worse and irrepairable

Anything they can do will be a temporary repair that will fail in a short while, not to mention probably void your warranty.

Edit- I thought you were talking about RROD. My Bad

I use a VERY soft white rubber erase. Like the ones you get at art supply shops. Gently rub the affected area and buf with a soft cloth. Works wonders for my sons discs and has never failed me.

He said ring of death, it was a safe assumption.

Aint that the truth. I have 2 360s and every time I turn one of them on I always expect the worse. 🙂

I found a permanent fix to your problem... I just did this myself today and it works flawlessly:

Buy a PS3

It does at least fix the game disc damage problem. Blu-Ray movies are hard to damage. 😉

Doesn't MS or the game makers provide you with good discs? I can't imagine that they wouldn't send you a new copy of a game if you sent them a bad disk

Not if you are the one who scratched it. Most SW companies will charge you $$$ for a replacement disc. So with shipping cost to send disc back, paying for a replacement, you are probably better off buying a used disc.🙂

Makes the idea of legal "backups" of all your 360 games more appealing, doesn't it. But of course, you would never pirate those rentals. Google for step by step instructions.
