So it is the LCD panel, which is a Samsung, but the panel itself is not sold separately that I could find. Only the panel and backlight assembly.

Only part number I can find inside is LTM240M2-L02

There are many options from China sellers. But they are more expensive than used whole monitor units, or refurbs.

I found a matching assembly on ebay that I guess came out of a HP monitor but all the numbers and pictures look good.

Would you spend the 30 or 40 dollars to attempt the repair? or just try and sell all the controller boards out of my damaged unit?

For laptops I use panelook.com to find panels and different spec options. Then take the model numbers and throw them into Google to find inventory. The panel market is a bit of a gamble sometimes. I've done a couple of 4k swaps though and no issues. With laptops though the sellers can be a pain to deal with as some of them sell compatible models rather than specific models you're looking for.

are you good taking things apart and putting them back together?

Do you have the patience to carefully pry and have either have a photographic memory of where all the screws you pulled goes back into, or you recorded the disassembly.

Then sure...

As for me... its not worth it.... especially when i can buy a better one with eye care on top for less then 150 dollars.

Personally i do not like old monitors.
The new ones are so much better and easier on your eyes.

Yes the 2007 IPS 1200p monitor was all snap in place and phillips screws. I removed i further than the 30 dollar HP replacement off ebay, But also removed all the boards in case I could sell those or even help someone with a broken driver board.
In 2007 it was not a cheap monitor at all. Have the full unit reassembled without the boards in it, Just in case I do decide to pitch it.

But it was an easy disassemble re assemble.

BTW it is not a laptop monitor.

Everything else is around 200 for the replacement, where a used with scratches listing on ebay is 139 so..

I have replaced it with a Nixeus Edge 34 UW 1440p monitor, just haven't finished the build to drive it.

pita because it's a Caselabs STH10 where no stock wiring will reach anything.

seems like a pretty good entry level VA.
Rtings however seem to not like that monitor too much:

Aint complaining since my old monitor is fubared atm and the 3200G laptop wont cut it mid june.

Even though is does play D4 on low settings acceptably. At least in beta. (the 3200g laptop)
