Damaged NTFS partition

I accidentally resized my partition, and now Windows 2000 won't boot up (it gets partially through and then a blue screen with error INACCESSIBLE BOOT DEVICE comes up). I've tried fdisk /mbr, so no avail, so I assume the MBR is ok. Any ideas as to how I repair my partition (before I reformat my hard drive)?

It was something I found on cnet, I believe it was called Ranish, but I'm not certain. I have not used chkdsk, what will that do?

Ranish Partition Manager?

chkdsk will check the disk for consistency. You can access it through the emergency repair console.
