Damaged Lian-Li case

I decided to cut the fan grate out of the top of my Lian-Li case with my dremel. Well, the dremel slipped and put a gouge in the top of my case. I made the mistake of trying to sand the gouge out with sand paper (500 and 600 grit wet). Now I have a dark patch around the gouge where I sanded. Any ideas how to get the gouge and the dark patch out of my nice case?

Thanks

Other then buying a replacement top panel (if they even sell them)... you be SOL. The problem is the fact that they have a anodized finish, not a mirror finish. Best you can get out of sand paper is a mirror finish (and that is with using 1000 plus grit paper).

Aw man, that sucks. That would REALLY piss me off. That blemish would haunt me. I'd have to buy a new case, or at least find a new top.

You could paint it, or put in another blow hole on the top. I'd probably just install another fan there.

You could increase the hole's size and go with an even larger fan if possible. You might also be able to find a huge fan grill to cover it all up.

hehehe....well if you are going to make the hole larger I HIGHLY suggest using a hole saw for a regular drill. Don't want to keep on having to make the hole larger each time :p

Yeah, ive thought about adding a 120 up there and using a large fan grille, I think that is my best option. Anyone know if a 120 will fit up there or even two 80s?????

I might end up sanding the whole top with 500 thru 1000 grit.

Thanks for the help so far

There's plenty of room for a 120mm (only 2cm larger on each side), in fact some places ship LL mods with a 120mm on the top instead of the standard 80mm. FYI, I removed the gratings on mine as well, and found snips followed by a nibbler/dremel worked extremely well.

Yep, Crazypc would be the ones to talk to. I am just starting to mod my Lian-li right now. I managed to find aluminum bezels for my drives up front, and the next step is the Inferno window from those guys. My computer is going to be tricked out....:p

What is the best way to neatly cut a hole for a fan in plexiglass???? Ill probably mount the top window with nuts and allen head screws like I did my side window.
