Damaged card?

Just bought this a Netgear 802.11g PCI adapter and it came flopping around in a box with packaging nuts. It fell out of the anti static bag.

I noticed this cap little bent but it looks like its coming off. I haven't tested it yet because the cap looks like it could be a problem. I don't think I should bother with testing it and just ask for a refund. What would you all do?

It looks like the cap connections have pulled past the bottom bung.

I would not test it as the cap might have shorted internally, this would cause issues down stream 😉

Refund or replace this one cap. It should be real easy as the PCB looks to be only three layer.
PSU PCBs are generally single layer and mainboards 5~7 layer.

Well I am fairly good with a iron but I paid $30 shipped for it so I am gonna work on a refund. Would radio shack have a matching cap you think?

Well, that cap ia 100uF, 16V, rated to 105oC. But a general purpose cap probably won't do. Most all mainboard and cards use low ESR caps. Best source StateSide is DigiKey or Mouser.

Sure looks like something hit it. It has a ding!

The seller, when present with pics, might say just keep the card and here's your money back.
THAT'S when a fast recap comes into play 😛
