I buy this display off Walmart.com, an Avera 40" Class 4K Ultra HD (2160P) LED TV (40EQX20) a few days ago. I go out my front door a few minutes ago and the box is there, leaning on the banister on my porch at a 45 degree angle. Ok, cool. But I then notice it doesn't look alright. A bottom corner is smashed in some, not a ton, but that box apparently was dropped on the corner. Someone affixed some clear tape at that corner too, no idea why. I don't want to risk accepting a monitor whose box was obviously dropped.

Looking at the shipping label affixed to the outside of the box, doesn't say Walmart, just this:

Return Center
Bentonville, AR Dec. 3

Huh? Walmart shipped me a NIB monitor from their Return Center? WTF.

I plan to go to Costco tomorrow. Walmart has a store around 7 miles further. I figure I can bring the box to Walmart before I make my Costco run. Return it for refund or accept a NIB replacement

Should I call them and bring it to them? Or just show up with it? I'm not sure I should take a replacement from them at the store, maybe just return it for full refund and buy later, if I want to. The price was real good at $189.99 + tax + $7 recycling fee, but it may stay at that price. I have another of these NIB (unopened) I bought off Newegg a couple weeks ago, and the system that's going to drive it is coming in a couple days. I want to make sure I like the display before I open another box, so I'm thinking just return to Walmart, get my refund.

Yeah, return it.

I'm getting into ordering stuff from Walmart with free shipping to the store. Mine has one of those giant, three story tall kiosks that you walk up to, scan an app and walk out with your box. The dumb thing about it, though, is that most of what I order are grocery items that they used to carry in the same store.

I was in the grocery section last night, and they've added an additional top shelf to every aisle. It's like walking through a deep canyon. But I notice that some sections have been reduced to just a few products. The mustard section is now just two shelves about five feet wide. What the hell is taking up all the extra space, I have no idea. Stuff that I don't buy, I guess.

I'm pretty paranoid about accepting damaged shipping containers. You will have the item for years to come and can only wonder if the device is damaged internally. They really need to be more careful how they ship fragile stuff.

Yeah, I'll return it today, no question about it. I am pretty stoopid with regard to display technology. I am less than confident I could properly evaluate a display for damage or weird characteristics. I've never seen this display unboxed, I have no idea "what it's supposed to look like." WTF. It's just lame as shit that a display's box shows obvious signs of rough handling. There are few items I would feel more nervous about in such circumstances. In fact, I hate to order displays online, but I have a few times. I have driven long distance to pick up a display. Well, I have to drive a fair distance to return this one. I think I'll call them before returning it. I don't see documentation affixed to the box concerning my order, so I'll just have to go, bring ID of course, and return it for full refund, hopefully. ATM, I'm skittish about this display, I'll take my time in selecting another, quite possibly the same one and from Walmart and just knock on wood that it comes in good shape with a box that looks undamaged. This box, besides the rather dented corner has an abrasion on the other side, indicating a collision with something.
