Damage to a mobo if CPU slightly overheats?

Hey there,

I have a P4 2.6c GHZ with an 865PERL board. My CPU was running hot (90 C) and seems to be a little defective. I'm going to try and exchange it at NewEgg.

I'm wondering if any part of the mobo could be damaged from a CPU getting too hot? I've never heard of it, but I'm wondering if anyone else has.

The only thing weird is that my blue LED Antec fan is now blinking. I don't know whats up with that.

Well iether it is or it is not defective there is no in between. I know AMD's will go to 90C but I think intels will fry at a lower temp then that.

Doesn't your motherboard have a fail safe in the bios settings?
