DAM YOU GATEWAY

i decided to use my work computer at home since i got a new laptop. came to put in my santa cruz sound card and it fit perfectly.

everything is great, then i get to plugging in the speaker, and lo and behold, since gateway cases have this thing in the back that lets you just plop in PCI cards, i can't plug in the speaker cable.....

damn you gateway, there goes the whole point of reformatting and everything.........................

/end rant

the part replaces the screws for the PCI cards, without it all the cards would be loose.....already thought of it....

The tooless cover should not be obstructing the card (trust me, I know, I used to work for Gateway) What model is the PC?

the 700 xl, the tooless cover covers the end of the card, the only part of the sound card that i need.

Is your card seated right, because I have never had any problem with that case. It's built to ATX standards, so if the card is indeed being ubstructed, blame the card maker. Also, why did you ditch your audigy/Live! sound card taht came with the system? You can also just unscrew the toolless bar in the back, your cards should have no problem supporting themselves (just don't kick the system around when the tooless bar is not locked.

Edit: ALso, I think you mean "DAMN YOU GATEWAY"
