Pretty much, Dallas wants to shut down the expensive red light cameras because people are aware the cameras are there and are actually obeying the law, as a result they're not giving out enough tickets and making enough money.

Why am I not surprised?

I searched for traffic, ticket and camera.

shouldn't they be most concerned with public safety

i think that is why govt. exists, public safety is a main job of govt

What fantasy world are you living in? Government's purpose now is to grow bigger and bigger.

As soon as they're shut down, people will start ignoring them again.

If that were the case, would it be a ticketable offense to flash your headlights to oncoming traffic to warn them of a speed trap?

The article states the truth. I got a ticket over at Lovers & 75 (westbound on Lovers turning to go north on the service road to 75). And funny enough - it was the first camera that I've seen that ticketed based off of not stopping completely for a right hand turn. (I looked, no one came, didn't really bother stopping completely before turning right)

I'm there at least once a week, so I stop fully now at that light. One $75 ticket at a light is enough to teach me. :)

Jerk! Don't you know you're screwing up the government's cash flow by obeying the law?!?!?

im so sick of the rick rolling crap. keep hopeing the mods would start giving long term bans for it

I guess not everyone gets a vacation for this.

you have been around long enough to know the rules do not apply to all the same.

Strangely it doesn't bother me that much, I still find it funny when it happens to me.

It was a rhetorical comment for the newer mods.

So the question of whether or not to have the cameras is how much revenue they generate (as evidenced by plans to scale back increases in camera numbers). That being the case, why not have fewer officers if they are costing the city money?

in North Carolina a woman died when a red light camera fell on her head and killed her. so they're actually taking lives here instead of saving them. I'm sure her family sued so that canceled out any $ they ever made off that camera
