NB: Don't get ripped off buying a USB cable (only to cut one end off of it) at well-known computer and appliance outlets such as my fictional store, BestCircuitDepotUSA.

laff 😀

<edit> for being a reply button noobie </edit>

ups

They had a whole rack full of them at the ritz here in college station. the lady there told me they were coming with a revised edition sometime that would have a view screen in the back. For now i will just see if it works, the one I have has the pin setup like http://earth.prohosting.com/puredig/ as it is this camera of cousre. So I hope to see if it works.

Just an idea, but since I didn't want to have a usb cord hanging off this thing all the time I too an eight pin ic socket (59 cents at radio shack) and cut it in half so I had 2 rows of 4. I soldered one end down to the pins and the other end I will splice onto the usb cord.

The guy at my local Wolf Camera said the same thing. He said they won't be here until at least after the holiday season.

Glad you got your camera to work! For the price, you can't beat it. and with the lens adjustment, it takes pretty darn good pictures.

With your lens adjust ment how did you get the disk around thelight meter?
Edit:nm I see you did go past it. Great idea thoug, I keep trying to think of a way to use a dial from the front though.

Got mine the other day, just put together the cable today. Will post the pics when I have them available.

I busted open an old palm cradle and used the connector from it... it fit perfectly, even without shaving the side off of it (like you would have to if you got the standalone serial sync cable. A little soldering work and a spare USB cord later, I have a working cable. Can't wait to try that out tonight!

So has anybody here verified that one from Walgreen's will work with the software and hardware mods? I don't have a wolf/ritz anywhere near here.

AFAIK, the Walgreens one requires a different software package. During all of my research, the only development scene I could find for the Walgreens cam was in Linux.

That's fine. Do you have a link for that?

John Maushammer has added support for the camera to gPhoto for Linux. I think that is probably your best bet.

Here is some more research being done for the Walgreens cam, although nothing useful at this point.

You might also want to try the SUCR software here, they claim that it *may* support the Walgreens cam.

That should get you started.

Has anyone been able to get the new cameras witht eh lcd, now that I am here in houston for the break, the closest store that has the cameras is all the way in town.
