Dailytech politicized? When did that happen?

Since when did dailytech get to be so confrontational? Is it about adspace clicks?

I've read a couple of columns that are either hard right or hard left (more right than left). I remember reading DT because they usually had the jump on new or upcoming tech before other sites. It's one of the reason why I read it more than tomshardware. But then again, I moved over to Ars and pretty much stayed there.

Before all of this I was a slashdot and fark reader. (Love it on fark when everything evil is attributed to Duke!)

I guess because websites are easy to set up, maintain and even cheap to run (except for bandwidth overruns), anybody can set up a "news" site.

I just don't remember DT being so politicized.

I noticed it last year, which is when I stopped going there. Like you, I initially went there for quick news on tech items, then before you know it Jason Mick was constantly doing spin pieces on climate change and outright attacking anybody who responded with examples of why his points were wrong.

It's too bad when decent sites like that let hubris get in the way. It should be named to "DailySpin" because they like to post spin / opinion pieces rather than actual news.

If Dailytech stopped posting political crap I'd probably go back to reading it. I go to tech sites for news about tech, not to read stories about how numbnuts Jason Mick doesn't like this guy from this party or that guy from that party.

Since the first time I ever heard of the site. 2008? 2009? 2010? I don't know what it was like, if different, prior to then, but I only know it like a techie Daily Kos, and don't go there except when linked from somewhere (like AT forums).
