Dear crunchers, in order to make our team more active and stronger, I'm testing a few semi-automatic ways to post stats.

Nothing is set in stone, the listed projects and the formatting can still change fundamentally.

I updated the first post.

As I said before nothing is set in stone.

I found a rather fast way to format them in excel.

Right now I take the today numbers from free-dc, taking them from the xml files directly is difficult and would require a sql server since we only get the total member credits, not the daily production (the sql database would be required to calculate the production automatically)!
I'm looking into developing a macro which does the operations in excel I do manually right now. I'm also looking into a python script, but as of now I still have to figure out how to do it since it needs to extract the data from a html table. An xml file could be easier to handle, but I'm not sure.

It's awesome that you're giving this a go Philippart!

If it turns out that you find a way to do your retrevial and sorting from Free-DC stats, I'd be interested in learning from you. F@H is orphaned right now.... Maybe with your help, I could give them something. Sorry to scrounge off your hard work, but I'm a hardware designer and pretty clueless with software. But I can be trained! :)

Thanks Philippart... looks great, the effort is appreciated.

Some kind of identifier or TeAm Logo under our member names might be something which would instill a sense of identity and belonging to the DC team. What say all of you?

I don't either.

I guess I should have asked.... does all this conversation apply to non-BOINC people too?

I've been assuming we were talking about all AnandTech DC participants.

Out of curiosity, do you need access to their SQL server, or a SQL server? I could easily set one up if we need to.

Bok from Free-DC is giving me easy formated stats, that way it will be much faster an easier!

Do you want a separate daily stats thread for every project or one thread with all the projects I'll cover?

I think that one thread with all projects is best, that way everyone will see everyone else's level of participation in the various projects, which just might generate some competitiveness.

Is there some way that the board mods could insert a tag line somewhere in the box that contains our avatar, username etc...which would identify the user as a DC participant...e.g. Philippart, Senior Member, TA DC Member?

Nice work. I'd prefer a single thread with all projects as well. Makes it much more interesting.

I just set up a script for Tom to pull the data, I can tweak it as he wants the output easily enough.

OF course you do also know about these page right ?

Team stats across BOINC projects

Team stats across ALL projects

The first one is automatic and will display projects as long as the team name is identical. The 2nd one requires aliases to be set up to display projects. Given that the id's are not consistent and it would be a full time job for me to maintain this across the 120,000+ distinct teams I provide a mechanism to add/change ids on this page in the top right of the page..

There are links on the first page to pages displaying combined stats for users on team as well as milestones for users across projects

Suggestions as always are more than welcome either here or over at Free-DC..

Bok

ugh, bbcode is different here, fixed hopefully

Thanks Bok for your work, this saves me a lot of time and makes a daily stats thread possible!

Sounds like you're both talking about custom titles. I doubt the mods would want to be bothered with doing that as they rarely do it now for individuals, but you never know. Maybe FMC could do it, as we all know he has way too much free time on his hands :p

If by some miracle of miracles happens & we actually switch forum software to VBulletin it sounds like pics will be allowed in sigs so everyone can add one from Free-DC or where ever.
