dAILY PoLL: How Many Different Languages Can You Speak?

How many different languages can you speak? I dont mean fluently, but you can at least carry a converstation in. Also, if more than one, do you use it daily, or at work, or both?

native language - English

I used to be near-fluent in Spanish but I'm out of practice.
I can speak conversational Italian.
I used to speak some Japanese too, but I forgot most of it.

learning some German now. I want to learn Portuguese and some Chinese when I get the chance.

3, and then there was french. If I could speak it, it would be 4. That stupid french class dragged on for 4 years back in hs. Augh, I hated that nasty professor.....:|
You would think after all this time I would get over it...

2, used to be 3 when I was a lot younger. Or so I was told. I can't remember any words in the other language, or how to spell it.

Wow, is foreign language a major, a passion of yours, or both?

Asian Studies major. 🙂

I always had an interest in foreign languages and pick them up relatively easily, since I grew up speaking 3 languages.

I'm not sure what I'll do with all these languages, but I initially learned Italian and German for soccer. 🙂 World Cup 2006, baby! 🙂 I thought that Italian would pick up women, but for some reason, German seems more effective. *hint hint* 😉 Oops. Sorry. No pics. 😛

Mandarin, Japanese and classical Chinese are required for my academic studies, as I mostly study Korean and Chinese Neo-Confucians. I might study Latin to read some accounts of Jesuit missionaries or study Thomas Aquinas one day.

I'm fairly fluent in English (since it's my mother language). I can hold my own in Spanish, and I know a very little Russian.

American english i do speak well.

other dialects of english,i get by..

😉

i took 2 years of french in high school, failed both years 🙂

Grew up learning English and Telegu. Took six years of Spanish, fluent in that, and three in Japanese. Comes and goes, depending how much I use it, or how much Anime I watch. Know Hinidi too, once again though depends how much I use it. So I put four, instead of five.
