So in the meantime thousands die because the Chinese buy oil from Sudan and the Russians have "other" commercial interest there. Nice little report that finally shows the real travest there. Got to love the opposition from the Islamofascist states nearby who took offense at the report. I guess its because the perps committing the bulk of the violence are Muslim and they are doing it to "infidels" that is passes the test.

It has been labled genocide by the US but of course it goes nowhere because of the previously mentioned blocking actions of Russia and China, two countries who violate human rights a lot. It makes one wonder how the UN will ever be an effective body when we can't even stop genocide in our times. We blew it in the 90s and we are blowing it again

Maybe we should kick Russia and the Chinese out of the UN?

What has Russia and China ever done to help other countries?

you can not kick them out, only way to get anything accomplished is by working together. You just have to convince them it is in thier own best interests.

Honestly i think the UN is a waste of time untill they can police the "laws" they decree. Untill they can enforce thier edicts, nobody will take them seriously.

How the hell is this not a bigger issue? Everyone kind of knows about it and its mentioned occasionally and in passing...but you hear so little about it compared to other issues. This is B.S. after Rwanda. Why can't something be done unilaterally by the U.S.?

They ARE working in their best interests. Human life is not one of them, it never has been. How do we convince them to value something they do not value?

It would be Iraq all over again. We've proven ourselves incompetent at rebuilding nations in where Islamic genocide sows ruin and chaos.

My impression of public opinon is not that people are upset at our incompetence at rebuilding the nation, but at the fact we're there in the first place with invasions being made under the guise of Weapons of Mass Destruction and the fact that Bush was finishing his dad's work and the influence of oil.

There was no genocide occuring in Iraq-prejudice, yes, oppression, yes, creulty, yes, acts that we consider inhuman, absolutly, but nothing on the scale of Darfur.I think the public would get behind it, but the fact is the oil interests aren't there for the U.S. and the media hasn't made a huge deal about it.

France also has significant oil interests in Sudan. That's why they opposed any action back in 2004/2005. Pretty sad how long this thing has been happening.
