I am using a Plextor PX-40TSi scsi cd drive and when I try to rip an audio cd I get an error saying it is unable to use digital extraction.

I got an email from Plextor saying that it is due to a bug in XP that all scsi cd drives have this problem and that Microsoft would have to fix it. Scsi CDRs seem to work ok.

Anyone have this happen to them? Anyway to fix it? Thanks!

Has anyone got a scsi cd to work with DAE in XP? I think I might just go buy a Lite On DVD drive and use that.

I just tried it and it worked fine.

Win XP Pro Corp

Plextor PX-40TS
Firmware 1.13
SCSI ID 2
Jumper settings : | : | : : : :
Parity: on
Plextools Version 1.10c

Adaptec AHA-2940UW (Plextools sees it as a AIC78XX ??)
Host ID: 0
with..
Pioneer DVD-305 on SCSI ID 1
Plextor PX-W1210S on SCSI ID 4

Not sure I can help any more than that without more info.. is your SCSI host configured OK?

Using the same drive, on an Adaptec 2040U controller, worked fine last time I tried it with Plextor's 2000 software (I think, will have to try again later in order to be sure that was under XP :)).

I have had problems with digital audio when trying to listen to CD's though.

Maybe it is my firmware... I am using 1.05 which is the latest for the sub 1.1 firmwares. I wonder what will happen if I flash it with 1.13. THink it will ruin it?

If you upgrade your firmware, upgrade Plextools too. I've had problems using older versions of Plextools with up to date firmware.
