Dad who left son to die in hot car might face death penalty

The Georgia dad charged with killing his toddler son by leaving the boy in a hot car all day could face the death penalty, a judge said today at a court hearing.

Justin Ross Harris, 33, was denied bond and faces child cruelty and felony murder charges after he said he forgot his 22-month old son in his SUV while he was at work at Home Depot.

A detective said Harris spent part of the day while his son was dying in the overheated car sending explicit messages and photos to "multiple women." One of the females Harris sexted was 17, the detective said.

As a father of four myself, reading about this case nearly brought tears to my eyes. How the fuck could you leave your infant son to die a terrible death by heatstroke?! D:

Time and time again we see it over and over that certain types of people that cannot care for their children, cannot raise them properly, and do not even want them, always seem to be the ones that breed the most.

I have no doubt that this fucker is guilty as shit, and deserves to be put to death. As for his wife, she was probably in on it too. She's likely one of those crazy, "do anything for my man not to leave me," types, as her husband was pursuing infidelity..

Make him spend the day in a tin can on a hot Georgia day if he survives give him life (I actually wouldn't care if they just gave him life).

Been in the news all day.

This is my take from it all:

(1) I believe he is guilty as all hell
(2) I hope this isn't an argument for greater NSA spying, because clearly that child's life had a greater chance of being rescued if the NSA had been spying on his google searches. "Won't somebody _please_ think of the children!"
(3) I really, really, really despise the media and especially HLN who bounce around from one court trial to the next. While I believe this guy is guilty, he still deserves the right to a fair trial and the right to privacy while a guilty verdict has not been rendered. The case should be resolved within a court of law, not the court of public opinion, and certainly not the court of media rating grabs.

Fry him. Accident or not, we need to send a message.

i have a 3 year old and i know for damn sure i wouldn't forget him in a car.

i hope they give this guy the chair

good fry!

Needs to be removed from the gene pool and never be responsible for another human being, ever, ever again. Complete that task as they may.

Evidently both he and his wife were doing searches for how long it would take a pet to die in a car and he was frequenting web sites about not having children. His wife was upset with his spending habits and they had two life insurance policies on their son, one for $2K and one for $25K. When you put together what is known so far, it looks bad. But if he gets the right lawyer and the right judge, he may be found insane.

Some of the info out there doesn't make sense in some respects but it is early in the investigation. Supposedly he took some light bulbs out to his car he purchased and had co-workers with him when he did so.

No sense typing it all out, the rest is in here.

Based on what is known at this point I suspect he will be convicted of murdering his son, if he is convicted he deserves the death penalty.

Well that's fucking depressing. 🙁

I mean someone being stupid enough to forget about their child in a hot car is depressing but to deliberately murder a small child in that way is just... shit... I just don't have the vocabulary to encompass my thoughts about it.

Intent is the key factor here. If it was legitimately an accident, I can't see charging him with a crime. If it was deliberate or through the result of negligence (was he drunk? on drugs? etc) then certainly he should be convicted.

Nice of them to clean up the gene pool after themselves.
Darwin is strong on this one.

You crossed the line here.

As a dad who drove 30 minutes with his little baby girl (nearly 20 years ago) in the car after forgetting to drop her off at daycare, I 'could' have possibly understood the forgetting part. I had absolutely no idea at that point that she was in the car and if I would have made it 5 more minutes, parked the car and went into work.....I'm still haunted by the very thought over 20 years later. But as the details come out and assuming that they prove to be true, this bastard (and possibly his wife) need to fry.

There is something wrong with you sir.

You do realize that you just said it was "nice" of him to literally slow cook his 22 month old child to death? That is just sick, even if joking.

The real Darwin doesn't care about the details, as long as the genes are not in the pool anymore 😉
