 :hmm: This video has me so conflicted. The girl is quite cute/entertaining with the thing, but it's a dead squirrel. The parents also don't seem to be terribly worried, though the dog did JUST kill it and the dad said there's no more touching after this (how thoughtful). Chance of disease? Meh... from what I know it's usually only when they bite.

I just noticed dad seems to also take a quick zoom in on mom's cans at about 0:45

The kid will have a better immune system than some kid that grows up in a plastic bubble. That's how our immune systems work, and after this they took her to get a bath and clean up.

This shit was hilarious.

"Now I've got two animals, a dog and a squirrel!"

The chances of that kid catching anything are close to 0. It isn't a big deal :^S

Sometimes, your kids do shit that catches you totally off guard. Sometimes it's all you can do to stand there with your hand on your forehead.

Still, in this instance, I think I could have mustered a rapid, "Put that down. Yucky!" for the 4-year old.

Get a grip. The chances of that squirrel having rabies are nearly nil. The chances of that dead squirrel transmitting rabies to the girl are less than that!

As for ticks or fleas, the parent could see easily see any on her nearly naked body, plus she's about to have a bath.

Kids don't have true idea of death until around 6-7. To her, that squirrel was the equivalent of a doll.

The parents acted entirely appropriately BY NOT FREAKING OUT, and eventually getting her to voluntarily put the squirrel down and come in for an immediate bath.

Finally, as Nintendesert mentioned, she will grow up with a naturally strengthened immune system superior to some china doll kept indoors and helicopter parented to death.

Fearful parents raise fearful kids who become putty in the hands of fear-mongering politicians as adults.

BOO!

Oh look, you just pissed yourself. :p

can't believe the parents are just carrying on watching her with the dead squirrel. It's ok not to freak out but it would be time to suggest that she put it down.

She's old enough to be taught not to play with dead animals without sentencing her to a life of counseling with a therapist.

I would rather sit in an Applebees next to a dead person in an urn than play with the dead squirrel. :hmm:

Death happens.

I saw dead animals at a pretty young age as well, it isn't something that has ever kept me up at nights.

that was fine, capturing the sweet innocence of a child, but the parent let it go on a bit too long in order to get a more lengthy video to send to the relatives.
